WorleyParsons has publicly promulgated a falsehood in relation to BZE.

Media Release 18 Nov 11

WorleyParsons has publicly promulgated a falsehood in relation to BZE. WorleyParsons state in their media release dated 10 November 2011: "Beyond Zero Emissions (BZE) engaged Worley Parsons to prepare a report to analyse the life cycle GHG emissions for Australian gas compared to other energy sources. BZE and WorleyParsons subsequently agreed not to proceed with this report."

It is true that BZE engaged WorleyParsons to prepare this report. The engagement is in writing, and a copy is attached. However there has been no agreement not to proceed with this report. Let WorleyParsons show any evidence or written agreement in support of their public assertion that the parties subsequently agreed not to proceed.

It is true that WorleyParsons suggested in an email of 19 October 2011 that they wished to prepare a number of papers for various journals, not sourced to WorleyParsons and not commissioned by BZE, dealing with the issues raised. None of this would have fulfilled the contract with BZE. The public assertions of BZE are supported by the documentation passing between BZE and WorleyParsons. The contrary assertions by WorleyParsons are not so supported.

The question must be asked; is the conduct of WorleyParsons as a result of them being overawed by the coal seam gas industry? The answer to this question is of the utmost importance as we know that according to WorleyParsons research, coal seam gas is a very greenhouse gas intensive fuel and creates up-to 45% more emissions than coal when used for generating electricity. WorleyParsons has promulgated public falsehoods in relation to BZE and its executive director Matthew Wright.

They should apologise.
