Hans-Josef Fell redefines climate protection to what is scientifically necessary!

Hans-Josef Fell, architect of the German feed-in tariff, addressed an inspired audience at Melbourne University last night (3 May 2010). He proposed to,
"redefine climate protection measures and to reset climate protection targets to accord with what is scientifically necessary.
In essence this means organising business in such a way that successful economic activity and climate protection are not mutually exclusive..."
Presentation and policy information is now available for download.
Many thanks to the Office of Environmental Programs (OEP) at the University of Melbourne for supporting us in bringing you this presentation.
The German greens MP continued,
"Copenhagen has demonstrated that climate protection clearly cannot be organised
on the basis of the targets and measures discussed and adopted thus far in the UN
process. Since the necessary climate protection measures appear to conflict too
greatly with the commercial interests of the fossil and nuclear energy industries.
Therefore, an alternative solution has to be developed for and in conjunction with the
financial industry to assure the branch that climate protection is not an obstacle to
their goals...
"It is also necessary to identify those solutions which are not real solutions at all and to end political support for them. These include in particular the use of nuclear powerand reliance on so-called carbon-free coal power stations using CCS technology."
He also plainly stated that gas is NOT a solution and called for action on 100% renewables!

About
Our goal is to transform Australia from a 19th century fossil fuel based economy to a 21st century renewable powered clean tech economy. Through the Zero Carbon Australia project BZE is researching climate solutions that are in line with the science. By sharing this research with thousands of Australians via the Repower Australia talks program, BZE is engaging, educating and inspiring the community with real and positive solutions to climate change.
