About
Our goal is to transform Australia from a 19th century fossil fuel based economy to a 21st century renewable powered clean tech economy. Through the Zero Carbon Australia project BZE is researching climate solutions that are in line with the science. By sharing this research with thousands of Australians via the Repower Australia talks program, BZE is engaging, educating and inspiring the community with real and positive solutions to climate change.

Discussion Group
Next monthly discussion: Monday 6 February, 6.30pm. Zero Carbon Australia (ZCA) Land Use Plan. Fritz Loewe Theatre, University of Melbourne.

If you're interested in helping BZE move Australia to a zero emissions economy, then check out the following volunteer positions being offered out of the Melbourne office. Many of these can be just for the summer or can be ongoing. Roles can be done in pairs or groups.

Description: The monthly Beyond Zero Emissions Discussion Group focuses on solutions and is located at Kindness House, 288 Brunswick St, Fitzroy. It is a well established event that has hosted many prominent players in the climate change solutions debate. The coordinator is responsible for setting up the venue on the night and packing up afterwards. Tasks include printing sign-in sheets, flyers, signs, hand-outs for participants, and also organising tea, coffee and nibbles. Some preparation work (via email) may also be required, to respond to RSVPs and questions.
Description: This is a newly created BZE social event, a chance for campaigners to stop, relax and enjoy time together while being challenged and educated on all things climate change. We are seeking an individual to help publicise and run these events, working with the film night coordinator. Appropriate films need to be chosen, they need to be promoted to assure good attendance and the venue prepared (we have an existing venue but can also look at alternatives). This is a very straight forward, enjoyable and rewarding role.
Beyond Zeo Emissions is growing in leaps and bounds and we are looking at revamping our membership system and services. We would also like full contact management in order to take advantage of engagement opportunities as they arise. Running an open source online campaign we have identified civicrm as being possibly the best tool to meet our membership needs. (though we're open to alternative suggestions) If you have civicrm or similair database skills and would like to help us solve our membership problem then we need your help asap.
In order to staff and direct our volunteer run campaigns we need the support of the philanthropic sector. As the leading climate change solutions-focused organisation in Australia we serve a niche that will appeal to grantmakers who want their funding to drive serious change in community attitudes and understanding. Given our strengths in this area all we now need is you to investigate, research and seek the opportunities to co-deliver the environmental and social outcomes in our and our potential funders' visions.
